Come along and celebrate Amnesty International's 50th Birthday with a live street art event campaigning for human rights. This two-part event will showcase some of New Zealand's best street artists doing live paintings, which will be auctioned off at the second event- an exhibition in Te Karanga Gallery on June 16th. The live painting will be done by some of the biggest names on the New Zealand street art scene including Pest5 (...Disruptiv) and Simon Ormerod (Cracked Ink).
Pieces from other well-known street artists ATom1746, DRYPNZ, NQR, Cracked Ink, James R Ford and Oi You!, have also been donated to Amnesty to be auctioned off on the exhibition night.
St Kevins Arcade will be filled with street art enthusiasts and willl have live music playing throughout the day.
Amnesty chose to use street art to celebrate our 50th Birthday because street art commonly points out the flaws in society and often demands change for the better. Amnesty International has been fighting against injustice for half a century and much of our work stems from street protest.
Join Amnesty and celebrate 50 years of campaigning for human rights!
