Nocturne presents an hour and twenty minutes (or thereabouts) of folk songs from around the world. We’ll take you to Asia, across Europe, down the Americas, through Africa, over Australia (we’ll do Australia as quickly as we can) and back to New Zealand. And it’s a bit jazzy. We just can’t take you to Antarctica because we couldn’t find any traditional folk songs from there. Apart from “Ice Ice Baby”. But it turns out that isn't from Antarctica either.
This is an unmissable experience. We’ve been told. OK, by our mums. But seriously, you’ll love it.
Nocturne:
A jazz group called “Nocturne”. We’re not a piece by Chopin. Nocturne means music of the night. But not “Music of the Night” by Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
Christchurch jazz musicians Bazi Baker (guitar), Catherine Wells (piano), Michael Bell (bass) and Tim Sellars (drums and percussion) come together to explore new concepts and sonic textures and present exciting original compositions and arrangements (but not of Andrew Lloyd-Webber). Yes, we said exciting. And new. And sonic textures. If you are looking for a rich blend of creativity and integrity, Nocturne promise to deliver. Or your money back. Conditions may apply.
