Newtown Rocksteady is a dance band that simply makes you move. Cool covers, righteous melodies, and hot original songs, rocksteady is more than a band, its a moment in life when you just have to be there!

A group of Wellington musos combine their creative talents to create the Rocksteady reggae sound. The eight-piece, Jamaican Rocksteady / Soul / Funk big band featuring members of Hikoikoi, IRoots, Roy G and the Bivonators, Safari, Zirigidum, and The Resole Project, play stonkin' grooves to get people moving their bodies.

Their sounds and styles are inspired by the late 60's crazes of rocksteady and ska dancehalls in Jamaica and England. And the result' An inspired sound, with an infectious combination of mellow rhythms and upbeat dance tunes to get the whole family grooving!
