Playing at the Thirsty Dog on K Road at 8pm on 27th October 2011.
Macombee and the Absolute Truth are something to behold. An avante garde big band with such a unique array of songs and sounds, its virtually impossible to pin them down. Their sound has been described as Cabaret Punk, where 1930s Berlin style Cabaret is fused with amazing three and four part harmonies, to a backdrop of killer grooves and eccentric hooks that make for an epic sound that audiences are going nuts for. Marry this with a sumptuous visual feast of intoxicating proportions, brought to life by a laugh out loud theatricality, characterising a brand new genre they are calling Caberlesque.
World-class singer/songwriter, Sarah Macombee leads this dynamic nine-piece ensemble, with her unflinchingly direct and bracingly honest storytelling. Prepare to be taken on a journey and expect to be enthralled, amused and entertained in ways you never thought possible.
“Glenn Miller in a love-shack with Amanda Palmer and the B52s
