New Bedlam Entertainment presents Distance (UK) DJ Distance, heralding from London, will be returning to Wellington for the first time in four years on 5 January 2012 for one night only. As originator of the Dubstep sound, Distance is not one to be missed. Playing with him at San Francisco Bath House are some top notch NZ DJs, well known for their producing skills and abilities on the decks. Distance has been the name on everyone’s lips since day one, and is widely recognised as having helped lay the foundations of what Dubstep is and develop what is has become today. Distance as a producer, DJ and label owner has been pushing things in a direction of his own as well as producing tracks with the rest of the hardcore team including Skream, Benga and Pinch. From deep to devastating in one dubplate switch up, Distance truly knows how to tear up the dance floor. Distance’s recorded output is also formidable, finding homes on labels as underground and seminal as Hotflush, Destructive and Boka in his early career, to ending up on the world reputed Planet Mu, on which Distance released his debut album in 2007. This year he released a new EP, Meanstreak. Playing support on the night are some big local names including Olie Bassweight, Borderline, Gomorrah, Ethixx, Renegade & Timmy P MC. Olie Bassweight is one of the original Aotearoa Dubstep pioneers and has been crafting his production and djing skills for 12 years while Borderline has been climbing the international Drum & Bass ladder over the last six years with releases on some of the world’s most well respected labels. Gomorrah is developing a very well known name for himself with a huge amount of quality self produced tracks, signed labels, and an energetic and tight set.
