Since rescuing an old Italian organ from a second hand shop, Australian micropop artist Kikuyu (Sez Wilks) has worked playfully to establish her own unique brand of combo-organ kistch. Kikuyu is now proud to launch her debut album, Hunter Gathered, produced by Joe Hammond and available at shows or through www.kikuyu.bandcamp.com
Fresh from a national Australian tour, Kikuyu will send Auckland awash with her big vocal loops, bright tones and kooky percussion presets. Her music loops illusionary through a minefield of an imagined Coney Island wasteland, calypso kaleidoscope, Donkey Kong and Peter Allen (Inpress, 20 July 2011). Kikuyu is supported by local contemporaries Watercolours, Huf and Emily Edrosa. Get down early to enjoy all this lo-fi line-up has to offer!
