Sagans Eye
'There's a NEW Rock Band in Town' “Sagan’s eye” is a new hard rock band from Auckland. The 2 founding member’s guitarist Daniel Thomas (Confessor, Powerlordz) and drummer Kev Curtin had previously been in the band “Cosmic Plane”. After recording an album and completing a video, things looked on the up until the boys found themselves without a singer.
Daniel had a chance meeting at the Kings Arms with Brian Wilson who has been known for years as a bass player and vocalist in bands such as Dry Ice, Naked Blade, Bastet and the Bonneville’s.
As Cosmic Plane had a bass player, Brian auditioned for lead vocalist and was to everyone’s surprise (including his) welcomed into the band. Unfortunately not long after, the bass player decided to leave for personal reasons and the band was back to square one.
Daniel was able to enlist the services of bassist Fui Groovenasty (Confessor, Miho Wada, Ayotollah of Riffolla) and the core of the band was set. Although the band was complete there was something missing and it wasn’t until well known session keyboardist/ guitarist Richard Breed joined that the final element was found.
With a new line up, new direction and new sound the Cosmic Plane days had well and truly finished and “Sagan’s eye” was born.
A mixture of traditional hard rock and modern funky grooves; the band’s main focus is to simply write great songs that will make you listen, make you think and above all make you boogie
