Galesburg and Strange News, in association with Civil Society, are pleased to announce the debut New Zealand solo tour by Malcolm Middleton, the member of Arab Strap regularly credited with most things musical. For eleven years, Malcolm Middleton was a corner stone of Scottish indie heroes Arab Strap. Formed in Falkirk, Scotland in 1995 by Malcolm and Aidan Moffat, Arab Strap’s take on music was unique, scabrous and to say the least, frank. Malcolm and Aiden bonded over a mutual love for inexpensive booze and artists such as Smog, Will Oldham and late period Velvet Underground. Their debut single, The Last Weekend, was hailed by Steve Lamacq as “…the best single of the last decade.” Needless to say, Arab Strap quickly established themselves as pioneers of cutting edge indie music, selling out shows worldwide and gracing magazine covers everywhere.
