Gig Information

Think old brick fireplaces, good wine, books and conversation; think tales of love and loss, heartache and elation - and everyday life. Paper Cranes are a small folksy indie bunch of goodness, inspired by folk that harks back to its heady heyday.

Kat McDowell | Born in Tokyo and raised in New Zealand, Kat has always loved music. Kat mixes acoustic guitar-led melodies with emotionally transparent lyrics that are delivered in a blend of Japanese and English.

Monkey Majik | It is very exciting to be able to introduce Monkey Majik live from Japan! The band is in NZ to record and are our very special guests for a short set.

Monkey Majik is a rock band from Sendai consisting of two Japanese members and two Canadian members. The band comprises brothers Maynard and Blaise Plant, who sing in Japanese and play the guitar; drummer Takuya tax Kikuchi and bassist DICK. Their first release was an EP called TIRED, a self-financed release limited to 1,000 copies which was available at Tower Records in Sendai. Their first single was fly in 2006. It was a commercial success and was followed by their second single, Around the World, which peaked at number 4 in the Japanese Oricon top 200 singles chart.
