Following the record-breaking run of the 'David Bowie is' exhibition in London and Melbourne, Te Uru in association with Flicks Titirangi are hosting a special Christmas David Bowie triple-feature film bonanza, including the 'David Bowie is' (2014) documentary that was made especially for the exhibition.
Taking place on Saturday 19th December, the day kicks off at 2pm with a special family matinee screening of 'Labyrinth' (1986), directed by Jim Henson. Who can resist a singalong with Henson's raucous cast of puppets and the fright-wigged, tights-clad goblin king, played by Bowie himself, as featured in our recent exhibition, The Brain.
Doors open for the evening's double feature at 5pm with a generous helping of Bowie hits to set the scene and stoke the bar. 'David Bowie is' screens at 6pm, followed by substantial intermission for more music and refreshments. Then the evening concludes with sci-fi cult classic, 'The Man Who Fell to Earth' (1976) with Bowie in his first starring role as the humanoid alien, Thomas Jerome Newton.
