Gig Information

It was well over 10 years ago that Billy Earl and Betty Grey of Rosy Tin Teacaddy independently left their home town of Hawkes Bay for the big smoke, Wellington. Now as they make their way back for their first ever Homecoming concert, they are to play a very special gig in Wairarapas Lounge Tapas and Wine Bar, Carterton.
You may have heard Rosy tin Teacaddy chewing the fat and playing tunes with Jim Mora on National Radio earlier this year, or sharing the stage with NZ music legend Chris Knox, alternative Texan band Iron and Wine, or with Swedish sensation, Jose Gonzalez. If youve never heard of them, then now is your chance.
The pair wrote and recorded their debut release, Blind Leading the Blind in a whirlwind two weeks last year and performed a sell-out fringe show embracing theatre, music and illusion. Since its release they have enjoyed radio support, heavy gig schedules and steady sales but now Betty and Billy are readying themselves for the next challenge their sophomore album to be recorded at the end of August with Wellingtons infamous Dr Lee Prebble, responsible for acts such as Fly My Pretties and The Black Seeds.
Their stage shows are increasingly entertaining with music that straddles the genres of folk, country and pop, while incorporating subtle comedy and theatre. Unafraid to immerse an audience in wistful, fancy story-telling and make-believe. Rosy Tin Teacaddys music is melodic yet simple, the lyrics visual and filled with colloquialisms. There is a constant sense of fun with an underlying sincerity. This is not shoe-gazing, self-indulgent music; it is forthright, strident and begs to be listened to. Dont miss out on hearing Wellingtons finest new folk.
