ALEX THE KID: myspace.com/alexthekidnz

The newest band to hit Wellington claim to have quantum leaped here from the future - to rectify this worlds relationship with technology. Alex the Kid, a four-piece "future pop" band have been described as a confused boy band, or the Pet Shop Boys on steroids, and have a mission with their music; to promote human and robot unity on earth.

They do this through a lively combination of electronica, indie and techno, animated in-between song banter, vocoders, synthesizers, guitars, bass, drums, laptops, Star Trek suits, and a highly visual, hyperlink rich MySpace page. Their endearing devotion to technology - evident through their dedication of whole songs to the stuff - would put Kip Dynamite to shame.

- Stacey Knott, Salient Magazine

"Simply brilliant. From the midst of a musical globescape littered with the decaying
carcasses of amateurish electro/punk bands surfaces Alex The Kid...”

Heat Like Me are largely inspired by their musical heroes, which include a combination of electro, funk and early nineties Chicago house, including notable acts such as Add (N) to X, Depeche Mode, Chromeo, Devo, Justice, Kraftwerk, MSTRKRFT, The Rapture, Soulwax, Digitalism, Duran Duran, The Knife, Blondie, The Faint, New Order to name a few.

"A fun and infectiously danceable mix you will be gripped by immediately and the whole world should know about."
