Something new for New Year\s Eve: A choice. A choice between fighting for showers with 15,000 other people in a dust storm, book-ended by a long and expensive roadtrip; or a laid-back session with like-minded friends, taking in the final sunset of 2008 overlooking the pristine Hauraki Gulf – close to home.
Party-goers have a refreshingly new option this New Year\s Eve with an exclusive event planned for Auckland\s Waiheke Island this year.
Island Life, to be held December 31 at Waiheke Island\s Sandbar overlooking the sunset over Oneroa Beach, boasts an international calibre line-up headed by legendary New Zealand electronica producer The Nomad.
The event will be limited to only 400 tickets and will be held on one night only, to ensure revellers have an alternative to the surfeit of three-day mud-bath and dust-storm festivals around New Zealand where the exorbitant price of admission comes packaged with long queues for food and toilets with 15,000 others.
The line-up spans many different genres of dance music, including funk, drum\n\bass, electro, dub, hip-hop and breaks.
The Nomad performs a full live set with MC Antsman (Rhombus), Lorenzo (sax) and percussionist Lavaani. Joining him will be a live performance from Sydney\s The Versionaries, with DJ support from YOniSIS (Waiheke), R.I.A. (Auckland), Dylan C (Auckland) and Cadence (Wellington).
Wellington\s acclaimed VJs The Supervisors, who recently supported VJ pioneers Hexstatic, will perform a live visual mix.
