Day Dreams Start Fires is collaboration between the poetry of Auckland-based MC Tourettes and the works of twelve Auckland artists including Misery, Askew, Deus, Cut Collective, Kerry Anne Lee and Gasp, among others. Art works will be sold as A1 prints at $60 making it affordable to the public. The exhibition opens Thursday 30th October at 7:30pm with performances from Tourettes, Drab Do Riffs, R.E.S and Chyphanetik.
The exhibition will be available for viewing Friday 31st October - Saturday 15th November at The Basement, Lower Greys Ave from 7pm.
Two of New Zealand’s most successful graffiti artists Askew and Deus feature in Day Dreams Start Fires. Both are part of the TMD crew who recently won the world final of the 2008 Write4Gold graffiti champs in Germany.
Tourettes spoken word night My Mother Says Im Talented follows at The Basement on Saturday 8th November beginning at 9pm. Featuring performances by Tourettes, Courtney Meredith, Shane Hollands, Sabrina Muck and other guests.
