Supported by George & Queen and Dear Times Waste, Ivy Rossiter and the Little Isles Band will be celebrating their EP release on November 28th at the Basement.
To say Ivy Rossiter's musical influences are hardly in vogue would be to say you haven't noticed a recent resurgence in Doc Marten boots, angsty idealism, and guitar-driven girl pop.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of PJ Harvey, Ani Difranco and Fiona Apple, Ivy's songwriting examines life through the self-conscious eyes of a passionate female in an engaging collision of punk rock roots and a newly discovered fascination for country music.
Her repertoire ranges from cool, to confrontational, to deeply confessional. And held together by sophisticated pop sensibilities developed over the course of her music degree, it's a skilfully crafted set that's well worth experiencing.
Now accompanied by the Little Isles band (Tom Broome on drums and Jonathan Burgess on bass), Ivy's self-produced debut EP is an uncut gem in Auckland's often-predictable singer-songwriter landscape.
