Initiates! Engage in your fertility rites tonight! Celebrate the
turning of seasons! Dance in the fire! Become ripe with possibility!
Fertility Festival and Bright Colours bring sound energy and voodoo
boogie to Lyttelton.
Springing from Wellingtons performance art and music collective
Happy, Fertility Festival play ancient modern ritual dance music for
the health and happiness of all.
A twelve-creature team of home-made guitars, horns, vocals and
percussion, they are more a primitive avant-voodoo happening than a
conventional band. Drawing on Afro-Beat, High-life, Haitian Voodoo,
Minimalism and Cosmic Jazz in equal measures, Fertility Festival
promise a spellbinding good time and performance that goes beyond the
stage, garden and into the stratosphere. You can dance to it, and kids
will LOVE it.
Led by 2008 Arts Foundation New Generation Award Winner Jeff
Henderson, Fertility Festival have recently been in Auckland
performing music for a production of Franz Kafkas the trial.
Bright Colours fuse African rhythms with ecstatic DIY performance.
Bright colours shows are high energy audio and visual spectacles.
They have been intoxicating audiences in Welllington for the past year
and recently composed sound tracks for short films by German director
Christina Von Greeve at the New Zealand film archive.
