LATE 02 Auckland: Supercity?
Auckland at the crossroads: What makes us Auckland? Are we a city of tribes? The first city of the Pacific? An economic powerhouse? An international city? Will a new political structure change who we are?
Smart Talk
LATE 02 features a panel discussion, moderated again by Finlay Macdonald, which asks “What makes us Auckland? Are we a ‘tribal’ city, and will a new political structure change our cultural fabric?”. Guest panellists include Don McGlashan; Chris Brown, co-writer of 8 Tribes: The Hidden Classes of New Zealand; ‘kia ora lady’ and chairwoman of Ngati Whatua Naida Glavish; and social commentator Gordon McLauchlan.
Great Music
Following on from his successful tour of Europe with Crowded House, Don McGlashan will perform in Auckland Museum’s Atrium on Thursday, 5 March at LATE 02: Supercity? A former member of Blam, Blam, Blam and The Mutton Birds, McGlashan’s music has provided a soundtrack to generations of Aucklanders.
Manuel Bundy, considered the ‘Godfather’ of New Zealand’s hiphop culture, also performs on the night.
