This year for the first time we have an Intermediate Workshop Series (as well as our ever-popular Beginner Workshop).

INTERMEDIATE WORKSHOP SERIES

The WIUO have been listening to our enthusiastic ukulele workshop community and by popular demand for the first time this winter we are offering an intermediate workshop series – yaaay, crowd goes wild!

This course is for those who have completed our 2008 or 2009 beginner workshops and are now ready, under the loving direction of members of the WIUO, to take their ukulele playing to a new dimension (meaning Dan has a new Venn diagram to talk us through!).

Come prepared to be challenged mentally and musically.

To take part in the intermediate workshop series you should have either:

• Completed our 2008 or 2009 beginners workshops, and/or

• Be able to play at least six chords (including E); and be able to play several songs on the ukulele competently i.e. be able to strum in time with others, and change chords in time.

• Bonus Brownie Points (BBP) if you know a bar chord or two, and if you have a little bit of basic understanding of music theory.

Some of the topics that will be covered are:

• Finger picking

• Playing a melody

• Accents and strumming patterns

• Triple strum

• Improvising

• Pick vs. fingers
