BLUE MURDER & CHICKS THAT SCREM PROUDLY PRESENT…

“Heavy-clever wit and wry do-or-die romantic solidarity of socially super conscious singer-songwriter Billy Bragg by way of Joe Strummer.”

Former post-hardcore band Million Dead frontman turned folk punk singer-songwriter FRANK TURNER is heading down under this June with his guitar and his own brand of folk songwriting, catchy melodies and punk passion to play dates in New Zealand:

Tuesday 4th May 2010 - Kings Arms, Auckland (R18)
Wednesday 5th May 2010 - Bar Bodega, Wellington (R18)

Tickets available March 15th from www.undertheradar.co.nz
and Real Groovy Auckland & Wellington

Since his decision to go solo in 2005 TURNER has toured virtually non-stop, afflicted by something akin to restless guitar syndrome, playing everything from massive festivals & crowded house parties to selling out London’s Brixton’s 02 Academy. He has travelled from his hometown in Meonstoke, Winchester to New York City via highways and byways and back again. He has toured with the likes of The Offspring, Chuck Ragans revival tour and Gaslight Anthem, and he wowed audiences at a very hectic SXSW (which included one drunken tattoo of Texas!).

His well documented performances and journeys capture the spirit of a legend in the making, reminiscent to the heydays of folk inspired artists like Billy Bragg and Bob Dylan with crowds singing in union, drinks clinking with camaraderie and TURNER pouring his heart out on stage through his earnest lyrics and catchy guitar play.

To date, TURNER has released three solo albums, a rarities compilation album, some split 7”s two Eps and a DVD. His most recent album, Poetry of the Deed (2009) was his debut on Epitaph Records. Epitaph is the perfect home for FRANK; with its fiercely independent spirit, rich in punk and hardcore history it is also home to the song-writing talents of Nick Cave and Tom Waits on sister label Anti; mirroring FRANK’S cross-over appeal of punk ethics and strong song-writing abilities.

And in this story of one beardy man and his acoustic guitar the best is still yet to come, don’t miss you chance to see the English folk singer-songwriter FRANK TURNER live spiting out songs that are at once effortless and heartfelt, filled with venom, self-doubt, and love for the everyday people he meets in the street.
