Leila Adu Rediscovers Nirvana in New Zealand for Month-Long Homecoming Tour

Leila Adu's music is cryptic, edgy, oscillating between serious commentary and flippant experimentation. - Sheffield Telegraph

In the midst of international shows to promote her latest album, 'Dark Joan,' recorded by Steve Albini (Joanna Newsome, PJ Harvey, Nirvana) LEILA ADU plays in Wellington at the San Francisco Bathhouse. She will be supported in her unique blend of jazz, blues, pop and experimental by some of the great names of the New Zealand music scene, saxophonist Jeff Henderson (Syzygy,  the Melancholy Babes,) drummer Chris O'Connor (SJD, Don McGlashan's Seven Sisters) and guitarist David Long (The Mutton Birds.)

The evening will include a set from Crown Julz and The 24 Carats, Wellington's Royal Majesties of of Blue Blooded Blues, Electrickle Funck, Killah Kallipso and Agnostic Gospel, with Crown Julz on Vocals, Electric Guitar & Ukulele, drummer Ben Lemi Wood (Hikoikoi, Urban Tramper) and bass player Patrick Bleakley (BLERTA.) This is a great opportunity to catch an artist at the height of her powers. Who knows when Adu will be coming home again'.
