Wellington's The Posture embark on Auckland for EP Release show

Date Added : 20th April, 2010 @ 11:26

MUZAI Records and The Postures are pleased to announce the Wellington three piece are set to embark up to Auckland for a special EP release show – at the hallowed Kings Arms on June 18th 2010, with guests god bows to math and two more to be announced.

Formed in Wellington 2006, The Postures are Michael Havell, Michael Harvey and Jeremy Nolan, and have been playing a thrashed out, sonic off shoot of Noise Rock and Post Punk. It’s a noisy racket, stripped down, and primitive, alternating between angular guitars, fuzzed out feedback, inappropriate melodies and rhythms, all tied together by a solid drum beat. Coming off last years successful tour of the South Island with Mountaineater, a quite frankly insane renegade set at Campus a Low Hum, and a mean as release show at Mighty Mighty have seen the band earn a reputation as really sweaty and loud. Their self titled EP was recorded and mixed by Warwick Donald at Wellington’s legendary venue Happy in September of 2009, and released to positive review.

god bows to math are Martin and Tom, with noob Sam they’re pretty rad and are super awesome gents too. More hard out than most, a pertinent description of them should involve words like genre, and post punk, and noise rock, but mostly they just rule. Killer smooth jazz hooks on the guitar, walking bass lines, and drummer knows how to lay down the smooth jazz beats, GBTM are the saviors of smooth and soft jazz the world over, and are a decent punk rock band too. They have a brand spanking new video out for their tune Crack + Tool T-Shirt = RockFM Listener, featuring footage from touring NZ under the influence, and of their set at Campus A Low Hum.

It’s choice bro.

MUZAI Records involvement with The Postures stems from a chat Michael Havell and Benjii Jackson had about helping each other out. With Auckland being a hub of musical activity that sometimes becomes overcrowded, MUZAI wanted to make sure The Postures were noticed a lot more up here than (maybe) they currently are... and saving a few bucks on Grabaseat by whoring their wears into shops up here.
