Auckland Songwriters Circle Showcase
Five local songwriters. One stage. Songs shared the way they were written.
The Auckland Songwriters Circle Showcase returns with another intimate evening centred on story, craft, and connection. This event brings together five local artists who will take turns sharing their original songs and the stories behind them, each accompanying themselves with their instrument of choice. Pure. Acoustic. Unfiltered.
This event is proudly supported by the Auckland Council Creative Communities Scheme, helping introduce the community to local artists and original music.

Catherine Walker
Harking to the incisive alt pop of St. Vincent, the plaintive 60s influenced melodies of Harry Nilsson, and the inventive vocal work of Kate Bush, Catherine Walker brings a buoyant, off kilter approach to classic pop. Her upcoming LP Nurture, produced by Tom Broome, nods to the smooth 70s ballads of Bonnie Raitt and the introspective stylings of Sharon van Etten.
Cedric Rerehau
Performer, composer, and singer songwriter Cedric Rerehau bridges classical form and radical creative expression. With nearly a decade of performance experience across New Zealand and Australia, his background spans opera and choral music through to contemporary and folk traditions. His stage credits include Evita, and he has appeared at the 2019 Matariki Festival, alongside a range of experimental and original works. His songwriting is grounded in narrative depth and bold artistic vision, and he is currently developing Shadow Werk, a project fusing chamber music, poetic monologue, and visual theatre.
COCO CHARLES
Alternative pop artist COCO CHARLES crafts shimmering, emotionally charged songs that balance vulnerability with quiet defiance. Her debut single “L.A. Dust” glows with dreamy textures and understated intensity, offering a first glimpse into a forthcoming full length album. Written in the margins of everyday life, her music traces the tension between ambition and responsibility, chasing creative fire while also holding little hands.
Laika
Laika Rountree is a Tāmaki Makaurau based, Ōtautahi bred musician, writer, journalist, and performer. Their award winning show at the 2024 Auckland Fringe Festival earned the TAPAC Awhi Prize, and they are also known for performing as Laika Loveheart, playing in garage rock outfit the worms!, and hosting 95bfm’s Stage Direction. Expect theatrical flair, sharp lyricism, and deeply human storytelling.
Otis Mace
Otis Mace has performed with an extraordinary range of New Zealand and international artists. After eight years touring Europe, plus eventful musical excursions through Canada and the US, he’s shared stages with the likes of Billy Bragg, The Violent Femmes, Screaming Blue Messiahs, and D.O.A.. With over 40 years of writing, gigging, and creative collaboration under his belt, Otis brings experience, soul, and masterful musicianship to the circle.
Come along to support local artists and immerse yourself in an evening of authenticity, vulnerability, and connection. This is a chance to experience original music up close, to hear the stories behind the songs, and to be part of a room where honesty and creativity take centre stage.
