Gig Information

Duckling Monster
Ducklingmonster is an audio-visual artist from Onehunga, Auckland | Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand | Aotearoa. She investigates social sites through a range of practices with a focus on lively performance installations. Publicly, her work has predominantly been in experimental sound performance, most notably in the group The Futurians, and solo as Ducklingmonster. In 2024 she released the LP ‘I know…… a… way” on AudioFoundation Records. Utilising a combination of scratched 45 records, broken beats emanating from a JVC boombox, field recordings of crashing oceans and Karangahape footpaths, electronic and vocal textures laid into walls of sonics – Duckllingmonster revels in the forgotten, neglected and overlooked. This collage of damaged sounds shines a light on lost passages of real time and space.

Mercy Hospice
Mercy Hospice, are a fluctuating collective based around the core trio of Ritual Heaps, D R Steele and P Wits, mangled electronics and reeds burble and creak in a stew of post musical inversions.

Ov Pain
Ov Pain have been a band for ten years. During this time they have released five LPs and a handful of cassettes through a variety of Aotearoa/New Zealand (CocoMuse, Independent Women, mfmp) and Australian labels (IT, A Guide to Saints, Chemical Imbalance, Vacant Valley). They have performed at underground/experimental festivals in New Zealand, Australia and Germany. In 2023 they made an appearance at Dunedin’s legendary Lines of Flight festival. Late 2025 saw the release of Free Time, a striking body of work that foregrounds their aptitude at improvisation and off-the-clock weirdness.

Motoring the Ov Pain aesthetic is a focus on exploring challenging timbral possibilities. This combined with a penchant for slowly evolving forms, a healthy auto-didactic streak and a barren sentimentality, makes the mature Ov Pain sound a beautifully affronting promise.

Renee Barrance and Tim Player are the two individuals behind the project. Both hail from Aotearoa/New Zealand. Since 2017 they have lived in Naarm/Melbourne.
