Songwriters’ Open Mic at Moon
The first of the 2026 series of Songwriters’ Open Mic sessions at Moon will be on Sunday April 19 kicking off shortly after the bar opens at 4pm. There will be sessions each month through until November, on the afternoons preceding the Songwriters' Showcase concerts scheduled for the evenings.
These sessions are solely for folk to perform their own original songs. So what’s the drill? Turn up, make yourself known to whoever appears to be in charge, and get your name on the list. Performances will then be in the order called by the organisers - no pre-booking of times, or reserving spots. Sets will be either 2 or 3 songs depending on the level of demand.
So regardless whether you are a “newby” taking your first steps beyond your bedroom, or an “old hand” wanting to test drive new material, or just get some “open wicket practice”, this is the open mic for you. If you fancy getting to play one of the Showcase concerts this is the right place to audition. And it's not just a chance to perform but to meet and get to know other songwriters around town.
Performers at the open mic get entry to the following Songwriters show for $10 (discounted from the regular punters price of $15.
The Poneke Songwriters Collective thanks Moon Bar for supporting these events and continuing to support the local music community
