Gig Information

Samba Independente is singer Alda Rezende’s new(ish) samba band. With relatively rare appearances, each performance feels like an event. The group comes together for select occasions, bringing vibrant live samba to stages like the Rogue on May 9th.

Samba is a vast rhythmic umbrella, and Samba Independente embraces its full spectrum: from roots samba and samba rock to traditional grooves, samba-canção, samba paulista, and samba de breque. The result is a rich, dynamic sound—fresh, expressive, and full of character.

When Samba Independente takes the stage, it’s all about infectious rhythm, strong musical interplay, and getting people moving to the unmistakable pulse of samba.

We are: Alda Rezende (vocals), Felicien Houet (guitar) Jeanette Spicer (flute) Julie Bevan (cavaquinho) Adriana Gimenes (percussion) Matheus Peres (percussion), Tomas Souza (Percussion) Nikkie Rich (percussion, vocals) Francis Tcheliski (percussion)

Music from 9:30, FREE ENTRY
