The Undercurrent presents King Leo & Son!
After decades of recording and performing in the U.S. and Australasia as a solo artist and with his band alongside such luminaries as Bo Diddley, Pinetop Perkins and Doug Kershaw, King Leo is joined by his son Oscar, and at its heart, the resulting album is a testament to their deep musical connection. At once a collaboration and a portrait of the singer and multi-instrumentalist at his most personal, King Leo & Son showcases the duo's love for the music and their shared journey.
Since Oscar moved overseas from their adoptive home of Ōtepoti/Dunedin, Aotearoa/NZ, they've reunited regularly to spend time together performing. During an eventful tour in Winter 2025, King Leo and Oscar went into Surgery studios in Wellington/Pōneke, Aotearoa/NZ and recorded 10 songs live to tape, providing an intimate snapshot of their dynamic musical vision. Capturing King Leo's confident, easy voice against the backdrop of Oscar's sensitive playing, King Leo & Son is an invitation to take the third chair, settle in, and enjoy the conversation.
