ANDREW LONDON AND THE SWING VOTERS
PRESENTED BY THE TARANAKI JAZZ CLUB ON SUNDAY 5 JULY AT 4.30PM AT THE PLYMOUTH INTERNATIONAL HOTEL
Andrew London on guitar and vocals, Kirsten London on bass and vocals, Michael Franklin-Browne playing drums, James Tait-Jamieson on saxophone and vocals and Wayne Mason playing piano and doing vocals.
Andrew has been playing up and down the length of NZ for the past few decades popping up at jazz, folk and art’s festivals with his quirky satirical songs. Pianist, Wayne Mason is conversant with the swing, boogie woogie and blues-based styles that Andrew and his partner Kirsten London specialise in. James Tait-Jamieson has travelled throughout the South Pacific with Andrew contributing sax and delightful crooning vocals and drummer Michael Franklin-Browne holds down the rhythm with Kirsten.
Alongside Andrew's original repertoire, the Swing Voters play a wide selection of jazz & Blues standards by artists including Billy Holiday, Louis Jordan, Peggy Lee, Louis Prima and Nat King Cole. Also a couple of Western Swing classics from Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. They love setting up an unrelenting swing groove and seeing how people just can’t help themselves from moving.
Doors open 3.45pm for a 4.30pm start.
