The Undercurrent presents the Wellington Calling Open Mic!
The Undercurrent is hosting the Wellington Calling Open Mic and we're looking for diverse acts to contribute! Each performer gets the chance to have a six-minute set with a microphone, guitar and piano provided. This is an originals only event. We want to encourage new creative voices to be heard. “We want to provide a positive and encouraging environment for established and fledgling acts to shine in. It's a pretty inspiring place to perform,” says host Steven Hood.
Each performer will need to sign up in person before 7:30pm and registrations of interest need to be emailed to openwandw@gmail.com before July 2.
The feature act is Choreboy!, a warm and welcoming experience for audiences looking for a fresh take on familiar sounds. Prepare for an ambient indie-folk project full of soaring vocals, layered loops and intimate moments. After performances at Gardens Magic and Cuba Dupa, expect a debut EP later this year along with more live shows in the works full of collaboration, warmth and exploration.
