As part of Wellington Jazz Festival, The Undercurrent presents Cranberry Trio!
Cranberry Trio are a Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland based trio made up of Iggy Nama Ruci (alto saxophone), Ryan Tomov (upright bass), and Finn McNeill (drums).
The group have an exciting and original style shaped by their years of playing together, their shared musical influences and philosophies and an interest in exploring collective improvisation, rhythmic complexity and melodic interplay. Influenced by the sounds and theories of Ornette Coleman (most notably his theory of harmolodics), Anthony Braxton, John & Alice Coltrane and Derek Bailey - The Cranberry Trio will present a set entirely made up of their original compositions, some unearthed for the first time for curious ears to discover - at Undercurrent Books this Wellington Jazz Festival!
