Aotearoa hip-hop has been an integral part of Twisted's story. Over the last 12 years, each iteration has hosted a massive range of Kiwi rap projects from new up-and-coming lyricists to top-billing headline acts.
Alongside the rest of the underground scene in Aotearoa, Twisted Frequency Festival is currently struggling to stay alive.
With the cost of living affecting the music industry as a whole, Festival tickets are one of the first things to fall on the chopping block for its core demographic of young creatives.
Without massive support from the surrounding community and solid sales for this year's event, it may have to call it quits and go the way of many other longstanding, iconic events and venues that have recently turned off the lights.
This is just one genre of the eclectic blend of flavours that makes up Twisted. This night will capture the essence of the Kiwi hip-hop sessions performed at by many local artists who have come to call the Cob Valley home and that Twisted whānua have come to love.
