Following two years of sold-out seasons, Strings Under the Stars returns for 2026, once again combining the beauty of live chamber music and the wonder of the night sky in a mesmerising experience presented by Te Whatu Stardome and Auckland Philharmonia.
Performed by a quartet of Auckland Philharmonia musicians, this special programme explores music inspired by the night, nature and the heavens. Hear Mozart’s much-loved Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Borodin’s atmospheric Notturno, Haydn’s celebrated “Sunrise” Quartet, and With Amber Hands, a new work by Tāmaki Makaurau-based composer Camryn Nel written especially for this performance.
The live performance is accompanied by an intricately designed planetarium experience, with the visual journey through space created to complement and elevate the music. Together, the music and immersive visuals create a unique experience where the concert hall meets the cosmos.
