Col Jones & Guilty (The Joe Cocker Tribute Band)
Whether performing with his own blues band Fat Mouse or as Joe Cocker tribute, Col always delivers a polished performance. Originally from London, he was around in the hay day of the pub rock scene which gave birth to such influential artists as Dr Feelgood, Dire Straits, Ian Drury and the Blockheads and Micky Jupp’s Legend. Col has either appeared on the same bill or played with some of these artists around various venues in the UK. Starting his musical career as a drummer but also has appeared as front man and singer for various bands of his own. His knowledge of musical styles and trends is peerless and can be relied on to perform songs from most of the decades. His love is blues, early swing and jazz but is also capable of performing more contemporary artists on request.
Typical Joe Cocker songs;
Unchain My Heart
With A Little Help From My Friends
The Letter
Delta Lady
Have A Little Faith
She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
You Are So Beautiful
And many more.
The show features experienced musicians from the New Zealand music scene, including Lance McNicol, lead guitar who has played with some of the most well known jazz and blues artists from New Zealand and abroad including, Nairobi Trio and Gahu and is currently playing with Col in Fat Mouse. Simon Sheward, bass guitar and vocals who like Lance has played with some of the top jazz and blues artists, one of the most well know of these was Hattie and the Hotshots, also with Fat Mouse. Herbie McDerbie, keyboard, vocals, harmonica who has played both here and overseas with some of the top international tribute acts, including Queen Tribute Act, Australia, currently playing with Best of British Tribute Act Band, Austin Road. Jason Orme, drums well known tutor and session musician currently occupying the drum stool with Black Sandiva.
When together they perform a very professional act and guarantee a very enjoyable show.
