STARRING DRAGON, HELLO SAILOR, STREET TALK, CITIZEN BAND & THE GLUEPOT SUPERGROUP

Brent Eccles Entertainment, The Sound, Juice TV and DB Export Gold invite you to take a trip down memory lane at The Gluepot Reunion concert.

Culminating their Anniversary Tour of New Zealand legendary band Dragon will be joined by Hello Sailor, Street Talk, Citizen Band, The Gluepot Supergroup and an all-star line up of Kiwi singers and musicians for one mighty night of nostalgia and reminiscence.

Folklore suggests the fabled Gluepot Tavern in Ponsonby got its name from the local wives who’s husbands invariably got ‘stuck’ at the pub. However, in the heady late-70’s the Gluepot became renown as THE live music venue in Auckland and a ‘rite of passage’ for many Kiwi bands such as; Th’ Dudes, Toy Love, The Crocodiles, Citizen Band, Street Talk, Mother Goose and of course Dragon and Hello Sailor who performed there regularly. In its glory days the Gluepot famously hosted rock royalty Mick Jagger before its forced closure in the mid-‘90’s.

Eddie Cook who was entertainment booker for the Gluepot recalls the musical shift in the late ‘70’s away from traditional cover bands to bands wanting to perform original rock songs. Defying Breweries Management who believed disco was the answer to entertainment, Cook and David Gapes, Hello Sailor’s Manager at the time agreed to a two-night booking during the 1977 Christmas-week. Removing the tables and chairs from the floor (a radical move of the time), the two Hello Sailor Gluepot shows were a sell-out and a new era in live entertainment began.

The Gluepot Supergroup of 2012 will comprise; Dennis Ryan on Drums, Neil Edwards on Bass, Grant Ryan on Guitar, Peter Wood on Keyboards and Walter Bianco on Saxophone.

Guest singers on the night will be Rick Bryant, Debbie Harwood. Hammond Gamble, Dave McCartney, Mahia Blackmore and Truda Chadwick.
Headline act Dragon were the kings of the late 70’s/early 80’s touring scene and emperors of excess, the band’s live show was unsurpassed and their rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle will go down in music industry history for generations to come.

Since their formation in the early ‘70’s Dragon have infused the hearts and consciousness of generations of New Zealanders with their raft of infectious hit songs such as ‘April Sun in Cuba’; ‘Are You Old Enough'’, ‘Still in Love With You’, ‘Rain’, ‘Young Years’ ‘Cry’ and ‘Dreams of Ordinary Men’. Reforming in 2006 Todd Hunter (Bass Guitar), Mark Williams (Lead Vocals), Bruce Reid (Guitar) and Pete Drummond (Drums) have continued to blaze across stages safeguarding the riches of past yet igniting new energy into classic Dragon songs.

This November relive and rejoice at the Gluepot Reunion concert.
