Once again stunning audiences both internationally with their tour of China and Taiwan in 2012 and more recently as part of the Auckland Arts Festival and a 10-centre Kaleidoscope Tour for Chamber Music New Zealand , NZTrio returns “home” to Q Theatre for another intimate series of performances with the return of The Loft Series.
A continued treasure within the classical community yet with a trademark style that challenges the traditional experience, the NZTrio’s sublime performances in the Loft @ Q Theatre in 2012 attracted both the traditional patrons and a new audience drawn to the accessibility of an intimate and thrillingly dynamic live performance.
Between Strings concludes the NZTrio’s short season at the Loft and features a world premiere with Dylan Lardelli’s (NZ) Between Strings – a new work which features not only NZTrio but also the work of Chen Xi-Yao, New Zealand’s resident Guzheng master. An important interpreter of new New Zealand music for guitar, Lardelli has performed and recorded works by NZ composers Douglas Lilburn and Chris Watson – and has studied with composers Jack Body and John Psathas.
Between Strings will also include the work of Amy Beach (USA) and Anton Arensky (USSR), complementing the string-based work with a duo of piano trio works.
