Gig Information

Monty Bevins is touring the length of the country this July to celebrate the release of his debut 6 track EP.

Monty will be performing his final show of the tour at The Wine Cellar in Auckland, Tuesday July 23, from 8pm.

Monty will be joined by fellow touring trubadour, Erin, who'll take some time out of her epic schedule to start our evening off with an intimate acoustic set. Catchy folky tunes, with a reggae twist, in an ambient, acoustic backdrop, her style is unique and encompasses everything from soft popular rock, to dub, roots, and soul.

Monty is a full time locally grown touring musician based out of Dunedin who layers beautiful vocal harmonies, clean bass riffs, and a groove beyond one man through his loop pedal; all melodically woven into refreshingly honest songs, and some classic stories from the road.

During a 2 year apprenticeship of over 200 gigs in London, Monty played in front of thousands at Acton's 'Anzac Challenge' alongside Jayson Norris and I Am Giant, honing his impressive loop pedal craft.

Since December 2012, after a couple of weeks recording the debut EP in his Uncle's home studio in Christchurch, Monty has upheld a relentless touring schedule that sees him captivating audiences with his personal style as far south as Stewart Island and Milford Sound, and has sold over 250 'pre-release' EP's the old fashioned way. From the opening track 'Love This Strong' that floats you away to a beautiful Rarotongan beach wedding, to the immensely heartfelt 'What We've Got', this EP is a wonderful raw acoustic listen. Life on the road is just that for Monty, life. It's home. He pours his heart and soul into every performance, and then sits down for a yarn with his audience after. It's wholesome, it's authentic, it's real music.

Essentially, if Monty was on the stage, it didn't matter whether there was 30 people in or 300 it was always a good night says Chris Wilkie, for whom Monty played an 18 month residency in London.

So come on down to The Wine Cellar to check this locally grown talent out for yourself.
