On Sunday December 8th Dawn Elder will release her debut jazz album 'Alternative Medicine' recorded with The Ed Zuccollo Trio at Marmalade Audio in Wellington. A free release party will be held at Meow Bar from 4pm and will feature a live performance of the album.
Dawn Elder grew up in a musical family in Gore. From school choirs to self-orchestrated singing groups - which appeared regularly around town and at the local folk club - music played a major role early in her life.
Elder's musical endeavours continued through University, although eventually a day job as a house surgeon and, later, a developing career in academic paediatric medicine meant her musical pursuits had to be put on the back-burner.
Seven years ago, Elder returned to the world of music through singing lessons with renowned tutors Dave Feehan and Emma Davey of Tapestry Music. She has since performed regularly at the Tapestry Music Singer's Concerts, been one of the founding members of 10dd - an a-capella 10cc tribute group led by Julie Lamb, and has featured as a guest artist with the Dave Feehan Band at the Wellington Jazz Club.
Join Elder, along with The Ed Zuccollo Trio on December 8th for some afternoon jazz - something old, something new and maybe something just a little bit blue.
