US indie band Rough Church are heading to New Zealand for a series of shows, starting this ANZAC Day evening at New Lynn's UFO. The Los Angeles band is fronted by Greg Franco, who first visited these shores in 2004 and ended up recording SouthpawWest with Robert Scott and David Kilgour of The Clean.
This latest tour coincides with the release of Rough Church's new album '46 Missed Calls (Live at KPFK)'.
Zane Carney is the lead guitarist of rock quartet CARNEY - and rhythm guitarist in John Mayer's band. He's just played his own set at Bluesfest before taking the stage with John Mayer, and Zane has collaborated with the likes of John Mayer, Justin Timberlake, Bono and Edge and David Foster to name a few, and was in cast of Broadway's Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark. He'll be playing tracks from his much-anticipated debut EP ‘Confluence’.
Chris Baigent, lead singer and songwriter for River’s Edge, has been writing songs with a distinct New Zealand flavour for the past 10 years - songs influenced by homegrown musicians such as David Kilgour, Chris Knox and The Clean; with other influences including songwriters Neil Young, Paul Kelly and Bob Dylan.
Powertool Records recently released the new River’s Edge album ‘Cambridge Town’, which Chris says, “I guess you could call this album my ‘thesis on Dylan’”. And, most appropriately, Baigent is now living in New Zealand's own Cambridge.
