An Evening Of Songs Mimi Gilbert and Nadia Reid

A stunning night in Wellington not to be missed. In Good Company, a recently launched studio creative space on Cuba street will open their doors to host a very special show featuring the soft sounds, layering vocals, and from-the-sreet-stories of American folk artist Mimi Gilbert. Following after is the critically acclaimed Nadia Reid, preparing to release her new album with a NZ wide tour in October, will be gracing the stage with a collection of songs and with a mesmeric voice that will quiet a room to pin-dropping silence.

About Mimi & Nadia

MIMI GILBERT • • • •

Born and raised in California, Mimi, now 21, discovered her love for performing on the streets or American cities at the age of 15. Mimi has found herself sharing stages with the likes of Emy Reynolds Band, Lissie, and The White Buffalo. Moving to Australia at the age of 18, she has recently travelled to New Zealand where she continues to make music around the world, playing in venues of all kinds, street and stage alike. Creating layer upon layer of a raw, prevailing sound that simply burst with life, journey and experience, Mimi feels most herself when behind any instrument at all, sharing the understanding that comes from music.

NADIA REID • • • •

Nadia Reid has emerged as a renowned young musical prodigy at work in New Zealand today. At only 21, her much lauded EP ‘Letters I Wrote And Never Sent’ received critical acclaim in 2011. Reid’s track ‘Rise and Fall’, penned at 17, came to be featured in Gerard Smythe’s post Christchurch Earthquake Film ‘When A City Falls’, and has accumulated several large national tours under her belt.

Raised in Port Chalmers, a coming of age in the musical mecca of Christchurch and now building towers of song in the metropolis of Auckland, Reid presents tales of love and loss through a new-folk glass, echoing songwriters such as Beth Orton or Laura Marling. She carries her stripped back, acoustic songs to audiences with poise and a grace that belies her young age.
