New Zealand jazz icon Nathan Haines presents his new album 5 A Day LIVE at The Tuning Fork, Thursday Dec 4 with support from P-Money.
His 10th solo release recorded and produced in the UK and released first in New Zealand on November 28, brings together elements of soul, jazz and hip-hop into one stunning yet danceable package.
UK producer Marc Mac (one half of the internationally acclaimed duo 4hero) plus NZ's own P-Money have created the solids beats foundation, with UK vocalists Kevin Mark Trail and Vanessa Freeman plus Tama Waipara all adding their signature styles alongside Nathan's harmonically rich writing and trademark saxophone and flute playing. Nathan and long-term collaborator Mike Patto (producer of both The Poet's Embrace and follow-up album Vermillion Skies which won Jazz Album of the Year two years in a row) co-produced, mixed and engineered the album together in rural Buckinghamshire.
For the 5 A Day album launch show on Dec 4 Nathan has assembled a top line-up including his brother Joel Haines on guitar with Kevin Mark Trail, Tama Waipara and Cherie Mathieson on vocals performing the album tracks alongside some classic Haines releases. Album collaborator P-Money will be DJ'ing before and after the live show, making for a magical evening of original good-time music played by some of New Zealand's top musicians.
