AUDUN

Not many Gold Coast DJs can claim to have spread their sounds all around the world. Elsewhere's long-standing Friday resident Audun is an exception. Audun's commitment to always stretching the boundaries of electronic music and pioneering new sounds has resulted in bookings on Ibiza, in London, Barcelona, and France to name a few.

Within Australia, the Norwegian expat's talents have been sought out by interstate clubs such as Melbourne's legendary Honkytonks, Revolver, and Onesixone, as well as Sydney's Chinese Laundry, Bang Gang at Club 77, and Sneaky Sound System's Sundays at Hugo's. In the last few years Audun has been specifically selected by promoters to support acts such as Booka Shade and Trentemoller (Family, Brisbane), Aeroplane, The Magician, Metro Area, Classixx, The Revenge, Flight Facilities, Light Year, The Swiss, Jona, Gui Boratto, Spirit Catcher, Pete Herbert, Gucci Soundsystem, Cosmo Vitelli, and Radioslave (elsewhere, Gold Coast), M.A.N.D.Y and Yuksek (Empire, Brisbane), Shit Robot (Alloneword, Brisbane), Surkin (Monastery, Brisbane). Combine this with regular appearances at Summafieldayze, Park Life, Splendour in the Grass, Future Music Festival, Winter Soundsystem, We Love Sounds, Good Vibrations, and Two Tribes, and it's no wonder the local media has referred to Audun as:

arguably the most influential and innovative DJ currently residing on the Gold Coast.

Gold Coast Bulletin, July 2005

…as much a part of the Gold Coast landscape as Warwick Capper's blonde locks and the Surfers Paradise meter maids.

Scene Magazine, June 2008

Such acclaim carries a lot of responsibility and is something Audun takes quite seriously. I'm honoured to be able to affect people's nights out and share my musical convictions with the crowd. Getting cred from my peers means a lot to me, but the ultimate reward comes from the regular clubbers who faithfully come to see me perform week after week and dance their arses off. The sound in question is what Audun's loyal followers on Friday nights at elsewhere refer to as 'discotech'; a blend of nu-disco, italo disco, minimal techno, electro, and futuristic house. As musical director in charge of Friday night's Electronic Boogie Show at elsewhere for the last eight years Audun's vision, persistence, and determination played a major role in elsewhere being awarded with the title of Best Music Offering in Australia at the 7th annual Bar Awards in Sydney in September 2007, and in the venue again becoming a finalist for this award in 2008. Audun's musical direction has also contributed significantly to elsewhere being a finalist for 'Nightclub of the Year' in the 2008 and 2009 Australian Liquor Industry Awards.

Audun has played alongside the likes of Aeroplane (Belgium), Metro Area (New York City), Classixx (US), The Revenge (UK), Flight Facilities, Light Year, SidWho' (Future Classic), Mitzi, Gucci Soundsystem (DFA), Jona (Get Physical Music), Spirit Catcher (NRK/2020 Vision), The Electric Press (2020 Vision), Lost Valentinos, The Death Set, Cassette Kids, Ajax, KIM (The Presets), Boogs & Spacey Space (Revolver), Mike Callander & Aram Chapers (Honkytonks), Phil K, and Digital Primate.
