Critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter, Regan Perry recently returned from his First U.S.A Tour Summer 2014
In 2009, Perry released his first solo album, Wiser, which was co-produced by Mike Nielsen (the British producer of Jamiraqui, Bjork, The Pretenders and U2 - among others) and though the album was widely-ignored by the public at the time, it resonated with musicians around the world. In 2011, the album caught the attention of the popular American reggae artist, Josh Heinrichs. Subsequently, out of a strong sense of admiration and respect, Heinrichs approached Perry and asked him to collaborate on his upcoming album Satisfied. Perry graciously obliged, and the album went on to reach the position of number two on the iTunes Reggae Chart. The resulting exposure provided just the catalyst needed for a global audience to finally discover Perry’s original, uncompromising music.
In February of 2013, Perry signed with the management firm, Actuate Promotions, in Chicago, IL. The result of their partnership was the unique, versatile album, MAUI. The album includes several collaborative efforts from some of today’s top reggae artists. The amazing roster of enlisted talent includes: Junior Marvin (lead-guitarist for Bob Marley & The Wailers); Stick Figure; Desmond Hyson, lead-singer of The Original Wailers, and 2013 Grammy nominee; Mike Pinto (No.1 iTunes Reggae chart, 2013); Squidley Cole, drummer for Stephen Marley; 77 Jefferson; Hani Totorewa of the celebrated band, Katchafire; T.U.G.G.; and many others.
When interviewed about the album, Perry was quoted as saying, It’s been a real collaborative effort in a lot of ways. It’s a real mash up. Real artists dealing with other real artists, recording their art straight for the listener, it’s definitely rare in this industry.” Soon after MAUI’s release, the established fan bases of each contributing artist was awakened to the talent and infectious quality of Regan Perry’s music. When interviewed about Perry’s prowess as a musician, reggae luminary, Junior Marvin, replied: “That young man can play the guitar at a world-class level and [possesses] flawless vocals…he’s got all the makings of a major artist. Reggae needs more like Regan.”
