Crowd favourite, and intentional cause of widespread controversy, Duelling Pianos is the musical equivalent of taking acid during the gunfight at the O.K. corral.
Jazz gunslingers both, Ben Wilcox and Dayle Jellyman go head to head in a ‘two men enters, one man leaves’ deathmatch.
Not for the faint of heart, Duelling Pianos Uncensored is a violent and overwhelmingly good spectacle. Framed by the unmistakable yelp of gladiatorial, no holds barred brutality, past years have produced nothing less than veritable carnage behind the pianos of these two musical heavyweights. Jazz historian and blogger Dr Jay ‘Bloodlines’ Decker wrote, after last festival’s performance, that Duelling Pianos’ Ben and Dayle are “frightening performers who somehow harness the electricity of early Jazz clubs and the bawldy sultriness of a smoke-filled bordello in South America.”
