We're serving up something a little different next week, bringing you whimsy and wit with a crazy mixture of alt-country, alt-pop and hypno-psych with Dead Little Penny, Paul Cathro and Nada Labyrinth.
Indie/space-country 4-piece Dead Little Penny will be playing their last show for the next little while, debuting some new songs along with the tongue-in-cheek tunes we already know and love. Fronted by songwriter Hayley Smith and joined by Rodney Fisher (Goodshirt), Pete Thornley and Simon Buxton (Holding Hands), Dead Little Penny offer up songs about sex, drugs and general Gen-Y debauchery in ways that could either make you laugh or cry (depending on your mood).
They'll be joined by alt-pop songwriter and general all round good dude, Paul Cathro (Ha The Unclear). Paul released his debut album, Head First Into Solid Ground late last year, and if you haven't gone and checked that out yet, you most definitely should.
Topping it all off will be hypno-psych/ethereal soundmaker Nada Labyrinth (Te Huhu), bringing his own brand of dreamy omnichord/guitar/vocals to the table.
