The Frank Burkitt Band play original music inspired by jazz, blues, folk, swing, soul and all things American Roots. A string band that have become popular throughout New Zealand thanks to their entertaining performances, strong musicianship and fantastic song-writing. They’ll make you dance, laugh, listen and cry (in good way).
W.I.M.S. will feature four diverse, self-made acts, highlighting the quality, showmanship and talent we have here in Wellington: busker turned seasoned folky Graeme James, folk-country duo LOST BiRD, folk-rockers Miles Calder & The Rumours and American roots ensemble The Frank Burkitt Band.
These crafted, hour long concerts will take place in the historic Heyday Dome Stage at BATs and will be a rare chance to see these excellent songwriters in such an intimate setting. There will also be a short film accompanying each performance. As well as entertain and inspire, these shows will also serve to give audiences more of an insight into the hard work and day to day life of an independent musician.
