Gig Information

In a night not to be missed, renowned Māori singer, musician, songwriter and political activist Moana Maniapoto performs in Whangārei-Terenga-Paraoa for one show only.

Moana is joined by her sister Trina Maniapoto, Pitch Black’s Paddy Free and Karlos Saunders-Tunks in a heartfelt tribute to te moana – the ocean.

The intimate, two-hour experience weaves music, storytelling and humour, exploring the changing relationship we have with water. My Name is Moana celebrates a history of New Zealanders standing up, fighting for what they believe in and people power. Moana's powerful lyrics are rooted in the landscape, culture and experience of Aotearoa.

A recent inductee into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame, recipient of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM), a Life Time Recipient of the Toi Iho Maori Made Mark and an Arts Laureate, Moana is “long acknowledged for having consistently pushed the boundaries of Maori music in both her recordings and live performances.”
