Not since acclaimed debut Diadem Of 12 Stars has Wolves In The Throne Room rocked this hard and steady; in its sustained racket, it approximates one of the band’s live shows, which tend to be all blistering blitzkrieg all the time, drone passages withheld.

Coming off the back of their searing new record, Thrice Woven, the Washington-based black metal titans again establish themselves as leaders of the genre. Ranging from pure barbaric riffs to moments of imperial clarity, Wolves in the Throne Room have again mastered the art of setting the mood - often one steeped in loss, existentialism and inevitability.
Massive and entrancing, the collective experience of the set was to feel transported to those haunted forests that the band so frequently evokes. Snapping back to the reality of the quiet city street outside was jarring after so effective a spell had been cast.
