BONAPARTE is back! 11 years ago swiss artist Tobias Jundt aka Bonaparte set foot on Aotearoa soil with nothing but an old laptop, an out-of-tune guitar and some Berliner sausages. a regular in the electronic-rock driven culture of Germany's rave capital he felt an urging to see the other end of the world... through friendships with bands like So So Modern or Fat Freddy's Drop, venues like the Mighty Mighty - and also some mysterious New Zealand bird species - the word Whanau bore a whole new meaning.
Now BONAPARTE is back for a 4th tour through Aotearoa, this time bringing along his handsome European band. Get ready for some merry party classics like Too Much, Anti Anti and Quarantine but also some of the quieter folksy songs like White Noize and Melody X from the last album. rumour has it the boys might even premiere some brand new polymagic jams… very soon that mystic battle cry Do You Want To Party with the Bonaparty will echo over the tender green hills of the long white cloud again. Tumeke!

(this electro-pop-afro-punk-troupe de force toured extensively around the globe (a.o. Rock Am Ring, Hurricane/Southside, Lollapalooza, Dour, SXSW, Sziget, Melt, Montreux, Exit, Roskilde, Splore… full live history: https://bonaparte.cc/tour/)

KUKI KOORI
Kuki Koori is the brainchild of Iain Gordon and Mick Finn. The aim is to construct a sonic and visual feast from scratch, with Iain and his electronic instruments laying down a trail of hypnotic notes to be chased by Mick’s swirling and ephemeral dashes of painted light. As the intensity and the beat builds the live illustrations begin to move in various ways in response to the music. Each performance is uniquely collaborative, with a visible and high-pressure creative process: Iain steps out from behind the keyboards of Fat Freddy's Drop to conjure an electronic symphony from drumbeats, synths, compressors, filters and samples, while Mick responds with hand-drawn art projected large.
Kuki Koori draws on the respective musical and art backgrounds of Iain and Mick, which are in turn influenced by their indigenous ancestry: Kuki (Ngāi Tahu iwi) and Mick (Yuin mob).
