Dress in theme for a rollicking ride of wicked delights
From the notorious nightlife of the 1920s, Shanghai Sheba rolls into town, bringing you a wild ride full of sizzling, rollicking wicked delights.
The audience is invited to come dressed in 1920s finery and along the way Sheba provokes them to sing shout, Charleston and have a delirious speakeasy experience – no one is safe! Sheba brings a smorgasbord of music from Josephine Baker, Marlene Dietrich, Cole Porter, jazzified pop songs and tunes from her self-penned album including “Paekakariki”.
Originally from Wellington, Sheba studied jazz in Switzerland and went on to perform in places such as Berlin, Tokyo and Brazil. She is well-known locally for her Jazz on a Sunday shows, and also performed a tribute to Josephine Baker in the Wellington Fringe Festival. Her charm, wit, soul and glamorous costumes have given her sell-out Festival success and rave reviews.
“You would be hard-pressed to find anyone comparable in the world. A world and law unto herself, she really must be experienced to be fully appreciated” – Under The Radar
