Micheal Young became obsessed with the guitar at the age of 18, inspired by James Taylor, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Joe Walsh, Chet Atkins and the Beatles. Later he latched on to the progressive fusion of The Tony Rice Unit, David Grisman, Tony Trishka & Skyline, and New Grass Revival and added a mandolin to his toolkit. His love for vocal harmonies has grown from being in NZ bands “Wires & Wood”, “Too Far Gone”, “ReInTarNayShun” and \Rainberry Pie\, as well as his album of duets “Double Helix”. After honing his skills on upright bass he became a founding member of folk/rock/soul band “Albi & The Wolves” which is currently keeping him very busy.
Micheal will be joined by Deborah MacKenzie singing duets for at least part of his set. Mark Laurent will anchor the evening, & the koha teapot will be in its usual spot on the counter. All contributions to the musicians are gratefully received, thank you.
