Wellington's New Valley Stompers are a favourite with lovers of traditional Dixieland Jazz music
This six to eight piece group is Chris Caudwell on trombone, Dave Thompson on clarinet, Bill West on trumpet, Graham Kelly on the keyboard, Brian Smythe on banjo, Roger Metcalfe on sousaphone, Marian Price-Carter on vocals and Barry Carter on the washboard.
There has been a Valley Stompers Dixieland Band in Wellington continuously since April 1973. There have been many personnel changes over that time but the present line up still includes a total of over 60 man years in a Valley Stompers band
